Comments

Most of my readers know I don't "moderate" comments and I don't require agreement with my opinions. I won't tolerate outright rudeness and harsh profanity, you don't have to be sweetness and light to comment here but the place is open to anyone of any age so some self control is important.

Recently I've deleted a bunch of comments posts, not because they were something objectionable, I couldn't tell. Posting on a blog written in English with Chinese (?) characters places the blog's owner, me, in an uncomfortable position - I have no idea what the contents are and as such, they go away. I don't require proficiency in English, read some of the comments, but some version of English is required. If you have something to add, please let us in on it.

Personally, I think it's a VERY safe bet that those non-English comments were in fact spam. That's one reason why Haloscan's comment/backtrack script has been so popular with blogger/blogspot users. It just has vastly superior spam filters without as many hoops for legit commenters to jump through.

I'm not sure it's spam, the messsages have been of different lengths. Since I can't read "Chinese" characters I obviously have no idea, but I thought I'd toss out the reason for the deletes.
