fred Thompson, WMD, Iowa

Fred told a "crowd" of about 60 at a Newton Iowa cafe that Saddam had WMD and the beginnings of an atomic program. Later on, he said he meant Saddam had WMDs in the '80s when he used them. Typical lawyer as candidate trick, stir the pot with what is a lie and then make sure to go back in time and fix the lie that's done its work. Confuse the rubes.

Why bother to tell people what they already know? Unless of course you're trying to do something else...

There are people trying to fix what's left of Republican politics, boy they're not getting any help there.

Fred Thompson is a smart man or at least plays one one TV. He was minority counsel during Watergate so he knows about conspiracies so I think he is on to something with this Saddam WMD talk:

Actually, he made the same gaffe before, almost a month ago and nobody called him on it. His original statement from early September is a more egregious lie and exaggeration than what he was backtracking from this week. I've got the whole story at http://wecouldbefamous.blogspot.com
