Published, Again

http://www.reuters.com/article/blogBurst/politics?bbPostId=B5QmQCDd4CiNCz2hEUnx66bvHB7c2defi9JjvCzCgPM2RC8j6g is where Reuters has me today. I'm flattered that this little blog gets noticed. Some of you've been around for quite awhile and stuck with me when readership really tanked, so maybe you've got better taste than we all thought...

It probably isn't really all that big a deal, but there are a whole lot of political blogs for these folks to choose from, and this is my 10th up with a major in the last 3 months.

Hey Chuck,

That is great! 10 posts being recognized is a very solid number. As my best buddy used to exclaim: "It aint braggin if you can do it!" And Chuck apparently you can do it. Congrats

Thanks Dean

It was flattering. I'm unsure how the selection process was done so I won't let it go completely to my head.

It is pretty amazing, isn't it?

I'm sure that the stats are incredibly misleading but I was dead chuffed to see that 11,000 people had read my humble efforts in Reuters over the last week.

Now your next challenge is to get it picked up by the TV. I managed that on France24 (Frances response to CNN) during the election period.

Don't bank on a whole lot of traffic for your blog though. Even though mine was featured throughout the day in the news bulletins following Chirac's resignation speech, I received under 10 hits from it.

Cool Arnold,
I won't hold my breath on the TV thing. It's a rather crowded market of bloggers here in Oregon and lots of them that are much nearer than a 5 hr freeway drive of a TV station.

You wouldn't believe the whole series of chance encounters that led to the TV spot!

What's the deal with the blogburst stats though? It's saying 37,000 on mine now which seems like a totally over the top number to me.

Go to the FAQs regarding "Headline Impressions", they're different than "Publish" and "Views".

I think their stats need a little work.

If my interpretation is correct then the now, even more ridiculous figure, of 75,000 in the previous 7 days is the number of times headlines from my blog have turned up on Reuters. What gets me about that is that it's from a standing start just a couple of weeks back.

Still, that leaves me with 63 post views on the top 10. I have the feeling that it would be possible to bump up the readers somewhat by working on the post titles ("As seen on Reuters" is the top).

Once they've read though the click-through % is pretty good.

Headline impressions are with all publishers, not just Reuters. If I read between the lines, it actually means the number of times your posts have been offered for publication.

For instance on 11/21 I show a huge number of headline impressions and 0 publications.
